This tool was made to measure the torque of the mainspring so that it can be wound up to the required specification. If the clock is not wound to the proper specification it could either stop, run erratic or rebound from being overwound. There have been many models and 'styles' of Atmos Clocks produced by Jaeger-LeCoultre since the late 1930's; however at this time there is no known Atmos Clock reference book that lists all Atmos models and their respective serial numbers.

On this page, you will find photos of the most common models of Atmos Clocks - such as those with Gold Plated Brass cases and glass sides; you'll also find photos of some very unique and rare models, including those with Wood or Marble Cases, Oriental Motif Atmos Clocks and some very rare and different Atmos clocks.

The first set of photos below include all main 'Calibers' of Atmos Clocks, those being:
Caliber # 1 (original Reutter Atmos), Atmos II, 519, 522, 526, 528-6, 528-8 and Caliber 540, respectively.

Aside from the different Cases and Dials, the Pendulum on an Atmos Clock can also be different from one model to the next.

For Example:
The Pendulum of an 'Atmos Caliber II' has straights, black lines (see photo), the Pendulum of a Caliber 519 has round 'dimples', the Caliber 526 has wide vertical indentations and the Caliber 528 has thin vertical indentations.

Note that the Pendulum of an Atmos 540 (newer models) may have either thin vertical indentations or round dimples, depnding on the model.
